Our very own Barra comp team the Classic Nitro Boys has pulled off a new first by winning both the N.T. Barra Nationals and the N.T barra Classic in the same year.
The prestigious 2008 Barra Nationals , hosted by Palmerston Game Fishing Club, has been run and won once again, with tough fishing conditions and plenty of impressive Barra.
We are proud to announce that our very own Classic Lures team has claimed the Champion Team award with a very convincing win. Team helmsman Trevor Robb was Champion Angler for the event. In late breaking news the Classic Nitro Boys have also won the 2008 NT Barra Classic, also on the Daly river.
In the Nationals The “Classic Nitro Boys”, sponsored by Classic Lures and Bomber Lures, produced what can only be described as an incredible result, finishing 975 points ahead of the field.
The team fished a range of Classic Lures including the 120 Barra in +10 +15 and +20ft models, as well as +120 Pro Alternatives and the new F18 Manta Ray. Killalure River Rats and Barra Baits with Yum soft plastics were also used to secure some great point scoring fish at the bottom of the notorious “Esses”. Gold Bomber 15A's also scored fish in the few runoff creeks still flowing..

In the N.T.Barra Classic the team was also Champion team by a margin of 640 points with a points total of 5300, a record score. Trevor Robb was again the Champion Angler in this event.
The team also fished a range of Classic Lures including the 120 Barra in +10 +15 and +20ft models, as well as +120 Pro Alternatives and the F18 Manta Ray. Killalure Flatz Rats were the standout lure for the team when fishing shut down for trolling in the centre of the river. Scrounger Jigheads with both Yum soft plastics and prototype Scrounger tails were sometimes used to entice fish when the going got really slow.
